Report: QB Trevor Siemian visiting with Raiders on Thursday

The Las Vegas Raiders have already had a massive offseason, highlighted by the shocking trade for five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams. Now, they could be eyeing a backup quarterback for starter Derek Carr.

Mariota signed a two-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons earlier this week, shortly after Atlanta traded away franchise icon Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts. The former second-overall pick of the Tennessee Titans, Mariota played in 11 games over the last two seasons as Carr's backup, going 18-for-30 for 230 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception while adding 22 carries for 175 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Siemian was selected in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos and played in just one game as a rookie, behind Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler. After Manning retired and Osweiler signed in the offseason with the Houston Texans, Siemian took over as the starter in 2016 and recorded a 59.5% completion percentage with 3,401 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions over 14 contests.

Due to injuries and inconsistent play, the Northwestern product was limited to 11 games (10 starts) during the 2017 campaign, as he registered a 59.0% completion percentage with 2,285 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. Siemian was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in March 2018, but he didn't see any playing time that season behind starting signal-caller Kirk Cousins.

Siemian signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the New York Jets in March 2019 and made one start in place of then-second-year quarterback Sam Darnold that season before going down with a season-ending ankle injury. The 30-year-old was signed by the Titans to back up starter Ryan Tannehill in 2020, but Siemian was subsequently released.

The Windermere, Fla., native was signed and waived multiple times by the New Orleans Saints at the end of 2020 and throughout 2021, but with Drew Brees retired and Jameis Winston going down with a season-ending injury, Siemian saw action in six games last year, including four starts. He went 0-4 as the starter, though, and posted just 1,154 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions overall.
