Report: Patriots plan to sign WR Donte Moncrief off practice squad

Donte Moncrief was activated from the New England Patriots' practice squad for Weeks 11 and 12 against the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals. The wide receiver played decently well in those two games, and it appears he has earned himself some more playing time.

According to NESN's Doug Kyed, the Patriots plan to fill one of the spots on their 53-man roster by signing Moncrief off the practice squad.

During Week 11 against Houston, Moncrief was targeted twice, reeling in one catch for 15 yards. In Week 12 against Arizona, the 27-year-old had two kick returns for 75 yards, proving that he can be a valuable addition in that department.

Moncrief agreed to a practice squad deal with the Patriots last month after being on the New York Jets practice squad earlier in the season.

The Mississippi product was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the team before joining the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018. Last season, Moncrief spent time with both the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

In 79 regular-season games, Moncrief has 205 receptions for 2,576 yards and 21 touchdowns.
