Statement from agent Safarrah Lawson:
“It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Baltimore Ravens LB Jaylon Ferguson. The family asks for your prayers and privacy during this trying time.”
Ferguson played for Louisiana Tech from 2015 to 2018, finishing his college career with 187 tackles and an NCAA-record 45.0 sacks (since 2005). In 2016, Ferguson led the CUSA in sacks with 14.5.
In 2018 as a senior, he led the CUSA in tackles for loss (26) and both the CUSA and NCAA in sacks with 17.5. Ferguson was named the CUSA Defensive Player of the Year following the season and was selected by the Ravens in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Zachary, La. native posted career highs in games started (nine), tackles (31), quarterback hits (nine) and sacks (2.5) as a rookie and finished his career with 67 tackles, 17 quarterback hits and 4.5 sacks across 38 games played (10 starts).
