Rams believe 49ers are a 'better team' with Jimmy Garoppolo as starter?

Jimmy Garoppolo is getting another shot at proving he belongs as the starting quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers.

2021 third overall draft pick Trey Lance suffered a season-ending ankle injury during the Niners' Week 2 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, going 15-for-31 with 194 passing yards, no touchdowns and one interception, while adding 16 carries for 67 yards in his one-plus games. In relief, "Jimmy G." went 13-for-21 with 154 passing yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions, along with four carries for five yards and one score.

One of San Francisco's NFC West rivals reportedly believes the team is in a better spot to compete this season with the veteran under center instead of Lance.

Last week, former St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz was highly critical of the 22-year-old North Dakota St. product, saying, "I've never liked him. I still don't like him."

Garoppolo and the rest of the 49ers will look to go above .500 when they take on the Denver Broncos in Week 3 on "Sunday Night Football."
