Raiders Who Have Gone to the Super Bowl: Austin Hooper
USA TODAY Sports

New Las Vegas Raiders tight end Austin Hooper will now be under the guidance of a someone familiar figure in Coach Josh McDaniels.

As the two prepare for a new season, it wasn't all that long ago they stood on opposing sidelines in the Super Bowl.

Hooper, who was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, was able to experience the NFL's biggest stage in just his very first season.

After finishing the regular season with 271 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 14 games, Hooper went on to have quite the impact in the playoffs as well.

In Atlanta's Divisional Round matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, Hooper tallied just a 10-yard reception. Even so, he would get the nod to start in the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers.

Hooper finished that performance with 23 yards on two receptions.

Then came the iconic Super Bowl LI, which was won by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots behind the greatest Super Bowl comeback of all time.

Despite the bright lights of the most important event in football, Hooper managed to have a solid outing.

He ended up with 32 receiving yards and a touchdown, completing what was quite the rookie campaign.

Hooper started in each of Atlanta's playoff games the following season after producing a 526-receiving-yard, three-touchdown campaign in the regular season.

He had made eight starts while playing in all 16 games.

Hooper spent a total of four years in Atlanta, where he ultimately registered 2,244 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. He was selected to back-to-back Pro Bowls during that time.

Hooper then signed with the Cleveland Browns in March of 2020. He remained there for two seasons before being released after the 2021-22 season.

The veteran tight end was then signed by the Tennessee Titans.

Hooper has put together 3,468 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns in his seven years in the league so far.

The Raiders signed Hooper back in March after they traded their star tight Darren Waller to the New York Giants.
