Las Vegas Raiders tight end John Samuel Shenker is one of the team's few undrafted free-agent signings from last offseason that is currently on the roster.

After not playing a single regular season game in his first NFL season, Shenker was signed by Las Vegas to a reserve/future contract last month. His one-year contract is worth $795,000.

Shenker posted one 9-yard reception in the 2023 preseason before making the 53-man roster. The Raiders would release him twice in the month of October before he was signed to the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad in December. They released him less than a week later.

The Raiders then signed Shenker back to their practice squad just days later.

Before being signed by Las Vegas as an undrafted free agent in 2023, Shenker spent six seasons (five active) at the University of Auburn, where he became one of the program's greatest tight ends of all time. He entered the NFL fresh off a 2022 campaign in which he broke Auburn's record for career catches by a tight end, finished with the second-most career receiving yards by a tight end in school history (779), and played the most games of any player in program history (68).

Shenker's best season was his 2021 campaign when he totaled 413 yards on 33 receptions, both of which were program records by a tight end in a single season.

Even before he was a permanent starter for the Tigers in his final three collegiate seasons, Shenker made five starts in 13 games in the 2019 season. He played in just three games in the 2018 season after redshirting the 2017 season.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
