Phillies to honor Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox's retirement in the best way

The Phillies are on tap to honor former Philadelphia Eagles legends Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox by having them throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Unfortunately, they won't be doing so at the home opener on Friday like many originally thought.

Instead, Cox and Kelce will share first-pitch duties on Saturday when the Phillies take on the Atlanta Braves for game two of their three-game weekend series.

"I'm throwing out a pitch, me and Fletcher Cox," Kelce said on the latest episode of New Heights. "We'll see how it goes. My elbow doesn't work anymore, so I think Fletcher's going to have to do it."

Kelce, who was selected by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2011 draft, started in all 193 appearances over his 13-year NFL career, earning six first-team All-Pro nods and seven Pro Bowls.

He decided to officially call it quits back in February and it wasn't too long after that Cox made the same decision.

Cox, a former 2012 first-round draft pick by the Eagles, spent all 12 years in Philly, compiling six Pro Bowl nods, four All-Pro honors and a spot on the NFL's 2010s All-Decade Team.

Both players are likely to end up enshrined in the NFL Hall of Fame, but until they're eligible for that, throwing out a Phillies pitch will have to do.
