Panthers' Robbie Anderson has no issue with new QB Baker Mayfield

The Carolina Panthers officially acquired quarterback Baker Mayfield from the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday in a move that had been rumored for months and that could spark the beginning of the end of the Sam Darnold era in Carolina.

In April, Panthers wide receiver Robbie Anderson generated headlines for a negative Instagram reaction he shared to a story that linked Mayfield with Carolina. Anderson found himself explaining that response to reporters last month, and he took to Twitter on Wednesday to insist he has no problem with Mayfield:

"I said what I said you know," Anderson remarked in comments made during June's mandatory minicamp. "That was just thinking out loud and my thoughts, you know? I was just trying to be a good teammate to my quarterback. Defend the guy who is my quarterback, in a sense, you know?"

While Anderson claimed at that time he was merely offering support for Darnold via his April online reaction to a Mayfield story, the 29-year-old hinted last month he wouldn't have a problem with playing alongside the 2018 first-overall draft selection.

"It would be what it is, you know," Anderson responded when asked about the possibility of the Panthers trading for Mayfield.

Regular-season play begins roughly two months down the road, so Panthers players such as Mayfield and Anderson will need to get on the same page as soon as possible if they are to enjoy success this fall.
