Packers Reveal Update On David Bakhtiari’s Future In Green Bay
Mark Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers are facing a challenging decision this offseason when it comes to David Bakhtiari.

His performance in week one showcased his potential to remain one of the NFL’s premier left tackles when he’s in good health. Regrettably, Bakhtiari’s persistent knee problems limited him to just that single game this season.

However, today, Coach LaFleur issued a statement shedding light on the future of Bakhtiari in a Packers uniform.

“I mean, he’s a hell of a player, right? He is a hell of a player, and he had a big-time injury. So I’m sure we’ll evaluate that, get more information, talk to Dave, and those decisions will be made in the near future.”

Over the past few seasons, the relationship between the Packers and David Bakhtiari has been a complex one.

In December 2020, Bakhtiari suffered a significant setback when he tore his ACL, an injury with long-lasting ramifications for his career. In two of the last three seasons (2021 and 2023), Bakhtiari has been able to participate in just one game each due to that ACL tear. In 2022, he managed to play 11 games, but his season was again curtailed due to recurring knee issues.

If the Packers have confidence in Bakhtiari’s capacity to regain full health and perform at an elite level, they would undoubtedly welcome the prospect of having him safeguard Jordan Love’s blindside.

Furthermore, there are indications that Bakhtiari is eager to make a return to Green Bay, potentially signaling a desire to continue his career with the team.
