NFL Survivor Pool: 6 in a row now

Last week I thoroughly debated taking Buffalo. Then with QB Josh Allen's possible injury absence, I just couldn't pull the trigger on the Bills. For those who did, I feel for you. That looked like a win in the bank for most of the game.

What was a win, almost since the first kickoff was Kansas City, who took early control against Jacksonville and won with ease. They definitely look like the best team in the league as we head down the stretch of the season.

That is now six wins in a row in our Survivor Pool space, so I hope you have been following. Even if it is just to goose up your parlays.

With each week the pickings get a little slimmer and this week we have another four teams on a bye — Jacksonville, Miami, Seattle, and Tampa Bay. Three teams from Florida ... what's up with that?

Survivor Pool Teams Used So Far:  Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins, and Kansas City Chiefs.

Record: 6-4

Week 10 Survivor Pool Recommendation

This week, there are only a few large favorites. The biggest spread on the board is in the Baltimore-Carolina game, where the Ravens are close to a two-TD favorite at home (that is as much about the state of the Panthers as it is about the Ravens) There are only two other games where the favorite is expected to win by more than a TD, those teams are Buffalo and San Francisco. Both still available to "us" if you have been following.

Also still available, are the Philadelphia Eagles, who are off their first loss of the season. I have been waiting on them for a while, but this does not feel like the week to grab them on the road against Indianapolis. The Colts have become a big-time wild card with their new coach. It might not feel like it, but there are still 22 of 32 teams still available to choose from. That's a lot and a little all at once, right?

The Pick: Washington Commanders

Definitely feel free to take the Ravens (they are the obvious choice), they were this close to being the selection but I did not want to go obvious two weeks in a row. Washington is looking good this week, not just because they handed the Eagles their first loss of the season, but because they are playing Houston, the worst team in the league. Even if it is on the road.

I like the way the Commanders committed to the run in the win against the Eagles and if they could have success doing it against a good team, what chance do the Texans have of stopping it — they are last in the league against the run this season. Houston has just one win on the season and even that came on the road. Washington is not elite, but Houston is already playing for next year at this point while the Commanders are in the thick of it.

Further, with Atlanta and the Giants more competitive than expected, now is the time to use the Commanders, if at all this season. The rest of the schedule is not as light as it looked at the beginning of the year.
