NFL 'SNF' Week 7: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Miami Dolphins betting picks, preview

Primetime games in the NFL haven't lived up to the hype for most of the season, but this week's "Sunday Night Football" matchup should be a different story. This Sunday, the 5-1 Philadelphia Eagles will host the 5-1 Miami Dolphins on NBC, and we can't wait for the offensive fireworks that are about to ensue.

This game should be entertaining enough without any betting action, but that doesn't mean we're going to take the night off. Let's break down the "SNF" matchup between the Eagles and Dolphins and find some winning bets along the way.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Miami Dolphins betting breakdown

Betting odds: Eagles -2.5, over/under 51.5, Eagles -135 ML | Dolphins +114 ML

The Eagles will be unveiling their gorgeous kelly green uniforms in Week 7, but that's far from the biggest storyline heading into this star-studded "SNF" matchup. Former Alabama teammates Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa will be going head-to-head for the first time in the NFL, but only one QB can emerge victorious.

This is shaping up to be a high-scoring affair between two explosive offenses and two below-average secondaries. Miami leads the NFL with 37.2 points per game, while Philly ranks fifth with 25.8. On the defensive side of the ball, the Dolphins and Eagles rank 26th and 24th, respectively, in opponent passer rating. That's why we're seeing a massive total of 51.5.

On the injury front, the Eagles could be in trouble with right tackle Lane Johnson, safety Reed Blankenship, wide receiver DeVonta Smith and cornerback Bradley Roby all missing at least one practice this week. The Dolphins have some question marks regarding defensive backs Xavien Howard, Kader Kohou and Nik Needham, but linebacker Andre Van Ginkel was the only listed player who didn't practice on Thursday.

'Sunday Night Football' best bets

Eagles -2.5 (-110 DraftKings)

The Dolphins offense has been a machine this season, but a lot of that has to do with their soft schedule. Tua Tagovailoa has been sacked only six times this year because he's been able to get the ball out quickly against five below-average defenses, but the Buffalo Bills dropped him four times and held Miami to a season-low 20 points. The Eagles defensive line is the most destructive group the Dolphins will play this season, and it can force Tagovailoa off his spot and blow up potential explosive plays before they develop.

On the other side of the ball, Philadelphia should be able to dice up this Dolphins defense all night. Miami ranks 27th in defense DVOA through six weeks. The only two good quarterbacks they've faced, Justin Herbert and Josh Allen, put up a combined 82 points against this unit.

Both offenses will be able to score, but the Eagles will make the key stops the Dolphins won't be able to make in the end.

Tyreek Hill over 6.5 receptions (-130 FanDuel)

Although we like the Eagles to win and cover this short spread, Hill should be able to put up another monster statistical performance. Philadelphia has been dominant against the run this season, but this unit can be beaten through the air. The Dolphins will notice that and bring a pass-heavy approach to Lincoln Financial Field.

Here's how No. 1 wide receivers have fared against the Eagles this year:

Kendrick Bourne: six catches, 64 yards, two touchdowns Justin Jefferson: 11 catches, 159 yards Mike Evans: five catches, 60 yards, one touchdown Terry McLaurin: eight catches, 86 yards Cooper Kupp: eight catches, 118 yards Garrett Wilson: eight catches, 90 yards.

Hill should eat in this matchup.
