Each NFL seasons brings plenty of expected and unexpected breakouts. The following slideshow features 25 possible breakout players for the 2017 season.
Addae missed eight games last season with a broken collarbone, but he had 57 tackles in eight games when he was healthy. The Chargers rewarded him with a four-year, $22 million extension, hoping he can carry his strong play from last season into 2017.
Coleman showed strong flashes in his rookie season when he was on the field, but he missed six games. He did have 413 receiving yards in 10 games, and could see more targets after Terrelle Pryor's departure.
Conley is set to see more targets after the Chiefs released Jeremy Maclin. He's shown blue chip speed but is extremely inexperienced. Last season Conley had 530 yards receiving as the team's No. 2 wideout.
An Achilles' injury hindered Doctson in his rookie season, allowing him to play only two games. After DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon left in free agency, the 2016 first-round pick is set to see far more action.
Carolina traded Ealy, a former second-rounder who showed up big in the Super Bowl two years ago, to New England in the offseason. He has 14 sacks over three NFL seasons, and is set to see a bigger role with the Patriots.
Enunwa becomes New York's No. 1 wideout by default following the losses of Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. He made huge strides last season with 857 yards and four scores, and should be set for an even bigger jump this year.
Foster should help what was arguably the NFL's worst defense last season. The 31st overall pick in the draft fell because of off-field issues, but he was an incredibly productive player at Alabama. Without much competition, Foster has a chance to be a tackling machine in his rookie campaign.
Gillislee is expected to replace LeGarrette Blount as New England's primary ball carrier and short-yardage runner. That role allowed Blount to score a career-high 18 touchdowns on the ground last season.
Henry showed flashes in his rookie season, and could effectively push future Hall of Fame tight end Antonio Gates to No. 2 on the depth chart. Philip Rivers certainly liked Henry in the Red Zone, with eight scores.
Hill was used in a variety of roles last season, finishing the year with 12 touchdowns. He will be used more as a wideout this year after the Chiefs released Jeremy Maclin, so he could blow last year's 61 reception total out of the water.
Arguably the best NFL prospect in the entire draft, Howard fell to No. 19 for the Bucs. He has the polish to help in his rookie season, and is in an offense that features the tight end, as Cameron Brate showed last season.
The Chiefs are bullish on their third-round pick, Hunt. He showed great versatility at Toledo, and has a chance to see regular carries with an impressive training camp. Hunt and Spencer Ware could make quite a tandem for the Chiefs.
The speedy Jack was returning from injury in his rookie season, and had some hiccups as a result. Jack is set to get far more snaps in his second year, and a beefed up defensive line should allow for plenty of tackling opportunities.
Jones had 89 tackles in his sophomore season, and is now the centerpiece a completely revamped secondary in Dallas. That could cause some issues early in the year, but Jones' familiarity could also help him pile up more stats.
Mixon fell to the second round of the draft because of off-field issues, but he was arguably the best running back in the draft. The versatile Mixon could replace Jeremy Hill as Cincinnati's starter and brings huge immediate upside.
The 14th overall pick in the 2015 draft, Parker has already made some highlight-reel catches in his two seasons. He peaked at 744 receiving yards last season, and the Dolphins expect much greater things this year.
New York failed to address running back with a high draft choice, meaning that Perkins will likely remain the starter. He showed flashes late last season and could have plenty of lanes as teams worry about Odell Beckham and Brandon Marshall.
Ragland missed his rookie season due to injury, but is set to start for the Bills in 2017. The former second-round pick was a tackling machine at Alabama, and should be plenty of work in running downs this year.
Thompson has been playing a limited amount over his first two years due to Thomas Davis' presence. With Davis now age 34, Thompson is expected to play more and has already shown great flashes for the Panthers.
Despite signing LeGarrette Blount, the Eagles are very high on Smallwood's ability in his second season. The former fifth-round pick had only 77 rush attempts last year, but his total should pick up in an impressive running back committee.
Watson will battle veteran Tom Savage for the starting quarterback job in his rookie season. The Texans would like Watson to win the job and finally cure their quarterback issues. His ability to create plays with his legs is attractive, and he has a great supporting cast with an elite defense and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. He's setup to succeed in year one.
Wentz's rookie season was hit-or-miss, but the Eagles have brought in significant talent to help him this year. It includes wideouts Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith, along with running back LeGarrette Blount.
A fourth-round pick out of BYU, Williams should get plenty of snaps in Green Bay while competing with converted wideout Ty Montgomery for the running back job. The role could be very profitable with teams playing the pass due to Aaron Rodgers.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft, Winston has made steady progress in his two seasons. The Bucs have added DeSean Jackson and O.J. Howard to Mike Evans, giving Winston some extremely imposing weapons in his third year.
New Rams head coach Sean McVay showed in Washington that he likes to throw the ball, and Woods has a chance to be the team's No. 1 wideout after coming over from Buffalo. His only major competition is Tavor Austin, who has yet to prove he can get open consistently down the field.
