NFL issues statement after Panthers owner David Tepper appeared to throw drink on Jaguars fan

On offense, the Panthers had just seven first downs while giving up six sacks on quarterback Bryce Young. On defense, they gave up 317 total yards to a Jaguars offense led by backup QB CJ Beathard.

In phone footage captured on the suite level of the stadium, Tepper appears to throw his drink out of the window of the suite he’s in, however, the footage doesn’t show the entire incident. The fans outside of the suite appear to react to the drink by looking back into the private box to see who tossed it.

Panthers QB Bryce Young slams tablet in frustration

Panthers quarterback Bryce Young‘s frustrations hit a boiling point on Sunday as his team trailed the Jacksonville Jaguars 6-0 in the second quarter. Cameras captured the rookie watching tape and throwing his tablet to the ground after he took a sack to go three-and-out. After throwing his tablet, Young got up from the Panthers bench and tapped his chest to signal, “My bad,” as he went to talk things over with his offense.

The quarterback’s frustrations were especially high after the drive before, a 14-play drive down to the Jaguars’ 29-yard line, ended with a turnover on downs. He took a shot on the drive that sent him to the blue medical tent but he was at least able to return to the game on the next series.

Young’s day didn’t get any easier after the tablet-tossing display. He ended the 26-0 loss with six sacks for a loss of 45 yards. He went 19-for-32 for 112 yards with no scores and an interception. The shutout was the first for the Carolina Panthers since 2002.

The Panthers are now 2-14 while the Jaguars move to 9-7 and break a four-game losing streak before the final week of the 2023 season. Next week, the Panthers take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jaguars defensive end Josh Allen set the new franchise record for single-season sacks against the Panthers. First, Allen tied former Jacksonville star Calais Campbell‘s franchise record after sacking Bryce Young early in the second quarter.

He then broke the record and etched his name alone at the top of the record book with his 15.5 sacks through 16 games this season. Campbell’s previous record of 14.5 sacks was set in 2017. He added one more to bring his single-season total to 16.5 in the fourth quarter.
