NFL Conference Championship betting specials: Most passing and rushing yards of the weekend

As the NFL season winds down, sportsbooks tend to get creative with how many betting markets they offer you. Now, you could bet on things like most passing yards of the weekend on any Sunday this year, but the market is a bit easier to swallow when we have just four choices.

Let's take a quick scan through the board to see if we can find us any value for these two niche markets.

Odds for Most Passing Yards of the Weekend

  • Brock Purdy (+140)
  • Jared Goff (+200)
  • Patrick Mahomes (+300)
  • Lamar Jackson (+800)

Sportsbooks definitely expect more of a passing showdown in the NFC Championship Game, an assessment we'd agree with. Both secondaries are a bit more vulnerable to opposing success, while the AFC teams both shine at shutting down the pass.

Purdy is the logical choice to lead the weekend in passing at +140. It may not be flashy or exciting, but he's got the highest over/under of the weekend, and the Lions have allowed Baker Mayfield to throw for 349 and Matthew Stafford to finish with 367 yards.

Going back a bit further, Detroit had allowed three straight QBs from Weeks 16-18 to go for 345+ yards. Purdy is the clear option for a big day Sunday, and +140, it's worth a bet.

Best bet: Purdy (+140)

Odds for Most Rushing Yards of the Weekend

  • Christian McCaffrey (+150)
  • Isiah Pacheco (+400)
  • Lamar Jackson (+450)
  • Gus Edwards (+650)
  • Jahmyr Gibbs (+800)
  • David Montgomery (+800)

This market has far more options, but we've capped it at the most likely options from each of the four teams. This is a more intriguing study, as we see a few potential names of interest.

Let's start with Lamar Jackson, who just rushed for 100 yards in the divisional round. The Ravens have some question marks as it relates to running back health, and Josh Allen just had a big game with his legs against Kansas City. We'd expect plenty of rushes here for Jackson, who has the second-highest rushing total of the weekend.

Elsewhere, Jahmyr Gibbs is worth a look. Now, he splits work with Montgomery, but there's no denying Gibbs has been the far more efficient and explosive option of late. Montgomery averaged just 3.3 yards/carry last Sunday en route to a 33-yard day, while Gibbs took just nine carries for 74 yards. If Detroit gives Gibbs the ball more, we could see a few explosive runs powering a 100+ yard day and the title of leading rusher on the day. Aaron Jones just finished with 108 yards against San Fran last Saturday.

Best bet: Jackson (+450) & Gibbs (+800)
