NFL Analyst Thinks Star Vikings WR Could Have Rough 2024

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison enjoyed a fantastic rookie campaign in 2023, playing in every game and hauling in 70 receptions for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns.

However, Marcus Mosher of The 33rd Team does not expect Addison to replicate that production next season.

In a piece where Mosher outlines four second-year stars who could be in for sophomore slumps, he names Addison due to the Vikings’ quarterback situation.

A good chunk of Addison’s numbers from last season came with Kirk Cousins in the lineup. Cousins played in eight games before going down with a torn Achilles, and seven of Addison’s 10 scores came in those contests.

Addison then went five straight games without reaching the end zone after Cousins’ injury before finally scoring a pair of touchdowns in Week 14. He went scoreless the next two affairs before adding another touchdown to his resume in the season finale.

The 22-year-old also averaged 60.3 yards per game with Cousins throwing him the football. After Cousins went down, Addison logged 47.7 yards per game.

Cousins departed Minnesota for the Atlanta Falcons in free agency back in March, so now, Addison will have to play an entire season without him.

The Vikings selected Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy with the 10th overall pick of the NFL Draft late last month, and McCarthy will almost certainly experience some growing pains.

That will undoubtedly affect Addison’s stat line

Mosher also notes that much of Addison’s production came while Justin Jefferson was sidelined with a hamstring injury, so Addison became the No. 1 receiver in those games.

With a healthy Jefferson and a rookie quarterback under center, Addison may struggle to build upon his 2023 success next season.
