New England Patriots Safety Jabrill Peppers Caught Secretly Clowning His Team by a Hot Mic After Week 12 Loss to Giants
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

Jabrill Peppers doesn’t think highly of his current team. At least, that’s what he’s left the world to believe when talking to former teammate Saquon Barkley last Sunday. Following the New England Patriots’ embarrassing 10-7 defeat, Peppers appeared to tell the star running back “You lucky we ass.” Watch the interaction below:

Now, he’s not wrong, as this miserable 2023 campaign has the Patriots lined up for the third overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. Losing to a bruised and battered Giants team that has been just as bad this year, thanks to a missed 35-yard field goal at the end, won’t change many opinions of this New England team. Still, that’s probably a sentiment Jabrill Peppers should’ve waited to express more confidentially. Of course, Peppers may not care that he got caught publicly bashing his employer.

Love it or hate it, this was a funny moment from Peppers, which got a laugh out of Barkley. Many Massachusetts citizens probably felt the same way after watching the Patriots play terribly coming out of a bye week (against a weak opponent!). New England’s nightmare isn’t done just yet, with the Chargers flying into Foxborough for a fight on Sunday.

Jabrill Peppers Has Been a Bright Spot

Well, last week, Jabrill Peppers did his part, finishing with a sack and a fumble recovery against his former team. Pro Football Focus has him graded at 88.0 overall this year, which is an impressive mark. Peppers is top five on the Patriots’ roster in passes defended, tackles for a loss, and combined tackles.

Peppers joined the Patriots in 2022 on a one-year prove-it deal. Then, this past offseason, he inked a two-year deal with the franchise. That deal is worth $9 million, with the base salary set to jump to $3.18 million next season. Considering that Jabrill Peppers is one of the few players performing on the Patriots in 2023, his post-game comments shouldn’t put his job in jeopardy.
