When New England Patriots safety, Jabrill Peppers, was asked about motivation to keep trying to win games during a losing season, he gave a simple reply. “We can ruin some people’s offseasons.” Unable to play in the game himself, his teammates have this opportunity as they play the Denver Broncos. Needing to win out in order to play in the post-season, the New England Patriots can play spoiler to their upcoming opponent’s season.

But with the latest news of Hunter Henry being downgraded to out, the New England Patriots will be hoping for a breakout performance from another tight end. A tight end who has mostly contributed on special teams up to this point in this season.

New England Patriots Backup Tight End

Pharaoh Brown has had a few standout moments as a member of the New England Patriots, but to this point his most memorable moment was his 58 yard touchdown against the New York Jets. Although against the Denver Broncos he will be asked to be a blocker first, as that is the primary responsibility of all New England Patriots tight ends.

He has showed his ability to run routes, get open, and utilize speed on the field. On a team that will need offensive help just to convert first downs, could Bailey Zappe turn to Pharaoh Brown to be his new security blanket? You never know, off of a play action pass, or a matchup that favors him, is it possible that we could see him get loose against this Broncos defense?

New England Patriots Willing To Do Whatever It Takes

Not only a special teams player, Pharaoh Brown has also been willing to play running back, or really anything that is asked of him. Earlier in the season he shared the following with reporters:

Football just comes naturally to me. I wouldn’t say I was lined up in the backfield too much. I’m 6’7 so lining up in the backfield is kind of a long stretch, but it was a way for me to get on the football field.

It is this focus, and dedication that makes you see why the New England Patriots were willing to bring him in and continue to use a roster spot on him. His approach to football is very business like. Block out any extra noise, and just dedicate all energy into what is most important, producing on the football field. And while he hasn’t had other scores since his touchdown against the New York Jets, his mindset and preparation may very well lead to results again against the Denver Broncos.

I’m not built to be on the sideline. They say fullback, I’m not saying anything else.

Someone who looks to initiate contact, willing to do whatever it takes, the New England Patriots will need a collective effort from everyone to be as intense as Pharaoh Brown if they are going to make sure that the Denver Broncos are at home watching the tv when the playoffs start.
