New Developments Emerge in Colts' Isaiah McKenzie, Tony Brown Drama

On Wednesday afternoon it was reported by Nate Atkins of the Indianapolis Star that both cornerback Tony Brown and wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie have had their lockers removed entirely from the Indianapolis Colts locker room.

This might not seem like much, but given that this is happening fresh off of both Brown and McKenzie not only being healthy scratches for the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers but also being suspended for the rest of the regular season to follow, this could be a huge development for Shane Steichen’s troops.

Currently, the Colts are coming off of a 30-13 beat down of the Steelers which puts them at the number seven seed in the AFC playoffs with a record of 8-6. Also, they’re in a three-way tie for the top spot in the AFC South with the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

If things fall a certain way for the Colts and they can muster up enough momentum to win out, finishing 11-6, they may just take the divisional crown. But, with distractions like what’s happening with Brown and McKenzie, it’s not something Steichen wants to put up with at all.

While neither of these players had the ideal season they wanted given the veteran roles they had, it’s still not ideal for the Colts. Brown is a solid special teams ace who has been with the franchise for years and McKenzie is a very capable kick/punt returner, so it’s a negative blow to Indy however you look at this situation.

This story is likely to have more developments, as right now there is little to nothing on why the Colts have moved closer and closer to seemingly parting ways with Brown and McKenzie. We’ll see what happens as news comes out.
