The deal is a one-year contract per multiple outlets. Jones signed with the Dolphins after the 2021 draft as an undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State.
His time on the field was limited his rookie season. He appeared in 8 games with 1 start, logging 79 total offensive snaps. However, he saw his role increase in 2022, as he appeared in 16 games with 7 starts. He made 5 starts in 2023, as Miami dealt with a slew of injuries on the offensive line as well as several other areas across the roster.
Not having reached four vested years, he was a restricted free agent and not eligible for unrestricted free agency. However, rather than place a tender on Jones, they were able to simply re-sign him to a new deal.
Jones provides, at minimum, a quality reserve capable of stepping in and starting at a moment's notice. He should get the opportunity to compete for one of the starting guard positions.
