Madden NFL 23 simulation sends Chiefs back to Super Bowl

For the fourth year in a row, a Madden NFL simulation has predicted a Super Bowl appearance for the Kansas City Chiefs.

On Monday, Yahoo! Sports released its annual Madden simulation, which projected the Chiefs to finish 13-4 and claim the No. 2 seed in the AFC but fall in the Super Bowl to New Orleans, 34-14.

The simulation also predicted former Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu would earn Super Bowl MVP. Mathieu, who spent the past three seasons in Kansas City, left in free agency after he did not receive a contract offer from the team.

Madden hasn't been far off on the Chiefs, who have made it to the Super Bowl two of the past three seasons.

Kansas City fans would take another Super Bowl appearance, though a blowout loss to the Saints with Jameis Winston at quarterback would hurt. Two seasons ago, the Chiefs fell to the Tom Brady-quarterbacked Buccaneers, 31-9.

The simulation projected the Jets to finish 11-6 and win the AFC East, which might be the most stunning projection of 2022. The simulation projected the other division winners as the Browns, Colts, Chiefs, Cowboys, Packers, Bucs and Cardinals. It projected the Titans, Ravens, Bills, Saints, Panthers and Eagles as the wild card teams.
