Lions-Saints chain crew member suffers gruesome leg injury after contact with Alvin Kamara
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

A chain crew member appeared to have suffered a serious leg injury during the Detroit Lions (8-3) – New Orleans Saints (5-6) Week 13 game Sunday.

The injury occurred during the second quarter after Saints running back Alvin Kamara was shoved out of bounds on a run. Kamara’s momentum took him through the legs of the chain crew member, who was writhing in pain afterwards.

Unfortunately, the injury to the chain crew member wouldn’t be the only one to come out of this game. Saints quarterback Derek Carr exited the game in the fourth quarter. The veteran took a hard hit from Lions edge rusher Bruce Irvin and needed help off the field amid the one-score game in New Orleans.

Despite the loss of Carr, the Saints managed to march down the field and score with backup quarterback Jameis Winston under center. With a completion to Chris Olave and a scoring run by Kamara, the Saints moved within five points of the visiting Lions.

Prior to his exit, Carr was 17-for-22 with 226 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. In his first season with the Saints, Carr has thrown for 2,535 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions on 65.6 % passing. Last week against the Atlanta Falcons (5-6), he had 304 passing yards and an interception in the 24-15 loss.
