Lions head coach Dan Campbell offers high praise for Jared Goff during OTAs

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell hasn't seen too much of quarterback Jared Goff in person during their new roles with their new employers. Campbell earned his gig in January, and Goff officially joined the Lions via a trade from the Los Angeles Rams in March.

It's still early days into organized team activities, but Campbell admitted during Thursday's press conference he likes what he's seen.

"We’re only one week into it — I can tell you this, he throws a pretty ball, that’s for sure," Campbell noted, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "But I like his mannerisms. I like his command in the huddle. And I would say, man, he’s progressing kind of right where you want him to progress at this point. Again, we’re not in team [drills], we’re doing these walk-throughs. But the first live seven-on-seven yesterday, just watching him throw and some of the things that come out of it — it’s baby steps right now. It’s good to have him here."

The pair seem to be hitting it off, as Goff told reporters earlier this month it was "a nice vote of confidence" the Lions didn't draft a quarterback and instead used the seventh pick on Oregon Ducks star offensive tackle Penei Sewell. Whether or not QB and coach will remain friendly through the fall remains to be seen, but there's something to be said for enjoying a solid start.
