After finishing the 2022 season as Tennessee’s starter, Josh Dobbs spent the 2023 season bouncing around the league on a one-year contract. Originally signing with the Cleveland Browns, the team traded the quarterback to the Arizona Cardinals just before the start of the season. Dobbs started eight games for the Cardinals, going 1-7, before the Vikings acquired him after the Kirk Cousins injury. Dobbs went 2-2 with Minnesota, with his most notable highlight coming when he led the team to victory despite not knowing the playbook or most of his teammate’s names. In total, Dobbs started 12 games for the two franchises, completing 62.8% of his passes for 2,464 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Josh Dobbs originally entered the league as a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dobbs didn’t see a second of game action during his rookie season, as he was the third-string quarterback behind Ben Roethlisberger and Landry Jones. He remained in a similar role in 2018, appearing in just five games and attempting just 12 passes.

The Steelers traded Dobbs to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2019 offseason, but Dobbs only had time for a quick cup of coffee with the team before they released him. The quarterback spent the next few years bouncing between organizations but only appearing in one game, completing four of his five passes.

Dobbs finally got another chance at the end of 2022. With Ryan Tannehill injured and rookie quarterback Malik Willis struggling, the team let Josh Dobbs lead the offense for the final two games of the season. Tennesse lost both contests with Dobbs completing 40 of his 68 pass attempts for 411 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
