Joey Bosa Finally Looking Like Himself This Season
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers have their sights on getting back to a .500 record this week when they take on the New York Jets. The game will be played on Monday Night Football, marking the second straight primetime game for Los Angeles.

It won't be easy for the Bolts, as the Jets have shown a ton of grit throughout the first part of the season. They will need to come in prepared, and not take this New York team for granted.

Defensive edge rusher Joey Bosa is as important to the Bolts' defense as anyone on the team. He is one of their leaders, and when he is aggressive, the defense is clicking on all cylinders.

It seems that he is finally fully healthy after battling through some things earlier in the season, and head coach Brandon Staley spoke about his star player to Dennis Waszak of AP News.

“He was battling through a bunch those first three, four weeks,” Staley said. “Now, he’s been able to put three consecutive weeks of practice together, where he feels like he has his legs and his gas tank full.”

The team is going to need Bosa in this game against the Jets, and he will be relied upon heavily once again. They will need to make quarterback Zach Wilson uncomfortable, and they can do that by getting after him in the pocket.

Normally New York is at their worst on offense when Wilson is forced to make plays to win the game. Despite his improvement this season, he still is prone to making simple mistakes at times.

“The Chargers come in tied for ninth with 23 sacks, including 13 on third down. Wilson has been sacked 23 times, sixth-most in the league, and pressured on 47.3% of his dropbacks, the league’s second-highest rate.”

Per Dennis Waszak Jr. of AP News

If they can get after him early, it could force him out of a rhythm. This will be the Chargers' best course of action to limit the damage that the New York offense can do to them.

This game against the Jets is a massive one for the Bolts and one they desperately need. If they were to lose it, things could get ugly moving forward.
