Jimmy Graham gets back into the endzone with New Orleans Saints in preseason finale
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

Jimmy Graham has returned to the endzone in the NFL . The tight end caught a touchdown pass in the New Orleans Saints’ preseason finale against the Houston Texans on Sunday evening.

Graham, who did not play during the 2022 season, hauled in a three-yard touchdown grab early in the second quarter of the game. He made it look pretty easy, fending off a Houston defender to make the play.

It’s great to see the tight end scoring touchdowns again, even in the preseason. His last touchdown grab came when he was with the Chicago Bears in 2021. He had three scores that year.

Graham hasn’t been a stranger to touchdowns in his illustrious NFL career. He’s responsible for 85 touchdown catches over a 12-year career. For a majority of his time in New Orleans, he was one of Drew Brees’ favorite targets.

In the offseason, Graham inked a one-year deal to return to play for the Saints.

Graham played for the Saints from 2010-14, then moved to Seattle for a three-year run with the Seahawks (2015-17). He also had stops with the Green Bay Packers (2018-19) and Bears (2019-20).

During his time in the league, Graham has earned five Pro Bowl selections and was the NFL’s touchdown receptions leader (16). In total, he’s hauled in 713 passes for 8,506 yards and 85 touchdowns.

Jimmy Graham signed one-year deal with Saints

After a year away from football, Graham signed a one-year deal to return to New Orleans on a one-year deal. He was a third-round pick by the Saints in the 2010 NFL Draft.

The tight end appeared to run into some trouble while the team was in Los Angeles earlier this month. He was arrested on suspicion of use of a controlled substance when police said he was “wandering into traffic.” He also resisted arrest, per reports.

But the team released a statement, saying the situation was actually more serious. Graham apparently suffered a serious medical episode.

“New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham experienced a medical episode last evening, which resulted in him becoming disoriented,” the team said. “He was taken into custody by local authorities and transported to a local hospital for evaluation for what Dr. John Amoss believes to be a likely seizure and spent the night under medical supervision and testing. Amoss met Graham at the hospital and is overseeing his care at this time.”

Graham was able to return to practice days later and took the field for the Saints in the preseason finale. All good signs for the veteran tight end.
