Jets RB Breece Hall on not being first-round pick: 'I definitely took some receipts'

Rookie running back Breece Hall hasn't forgotten that he fell to the second round and overall pick No. 36 before the New York Jets selected him in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Hall wants to ensure others remember passing on him after he tallied 97 rushing yards and 100 receiving yards in last Sunday's win over the Miami Dolphins.

"I definitely took some receipts," Hall said Friday about not being a first-round choice, per Colin Martin of SNY. "It sucked, but I'm here for a reason. It was a blessing for me to be here with this great draft class and everything like that. I definitely do want to prove every week why I should've been a first-round pick and why I was worthy of that. That's a little internal motivation for sure."

As noted by StatMuse, Hall is second among rookie running backs behind only Dameon Pierce of the Houston Texans with 275 rushing yards on the season. ESPN stats show that Pierce, a fourth-round selection, is fifth in the entire league with 412 yards on the ground.

Hall has also contributed two rushing touchdowns to go along with 17 catches for 213 yards and a score. The 21-year-old added Friday that he's gaining "comfortability" with each game at the highest level.

One wonders if it's a coincidence that Hall echoed head coach Robert Saleh, who vowed last month he was "taking receipts" of what critics said about his club in the early stages of the campaign.

The 3-2 Jets play at the 3-2 Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon.
