The New York Jets have reached a whole new low this season and, quite frankly, it's amazing that Adam Gase hasn't been fired yet.
After dropping to 0-6 on Sunday with a 24-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins, the Jets have been outscored 185-75 this season. The -110 point differential is the worst in the NFL by far. The second-worst point differential in the NFL belongs to the Jacksonville Jaguars at -56. The Washington Football Team ranks third at -54.
If they stay on their current path, the Jets would get outscored by opponents by 293 points this season, which would be the worst point differential in NFL history, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.
The current record for the worst differential is owned by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who had a -287 in 1976. That was the first season in Buccaneers' history, and that team is largely considered the worst in league history, Smith adds.
New York is the favorite to land the first-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, which would likely end up with them selecting Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. If that's who they choose, Lawrence will be headed to the Meadowlands with more problems than one.
