Jets GM explains stipulation about appearance on 'Hard Knocks'

New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas recently detailed why he and head coach Robert Saleh were in agreement over one stipulation for the team's appearance on this summer's training camp edition of "Hard Knocks."

Despite initial hesitancy, if not desire to avoid the HBO reality series, Saleh eventually came around to the idea of Gang Green being the focus of the 2023 summer program.

It was reported in July that the Jets were going to be denying certain access to the filming crew for the show, and while all of those details weren't revealed, ESPN's Adam Schefter said that the franchise doesn't "believe it’s humane to show players being released."

New York's second appearance on the reality series (they were the stars of the 2010 edition under head coach Rex Ryan) kicked off on Aug. 8. The season finale will air at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Offseason acquisition Aaron Rodgers and the Jets begin their regular season against the Buffalo Bills at home in the Week 1 edition of "Monday Night Football" at 8:15 p.m. ET.

One late-training camp roster decision made by the Jets that was filmed and will be included in the "Hard Knocks" finale was making the rounds on social media on Tuesday morning.

The show's camera crew gave viewers an inside look at undrafted rookie wide receiver Xavier Gipson hearing the good news from Douglas and Saleh, but not before some brief teasing leading up to the reveal.
