Jerry Jeudy claps back at Broncos legend after comeback win vs. Bears

Coming off a historically bad 50-point defeat to the Miami Dolphins in Week 3, the Denver Broncos came out flat in Sunday's game against the winless Chicago Bears. Falling into a 28-7 deficit at halftime, criticism of Denver ran rampant across social media, with former Broncos players getting in on the action.

Former Pro Bowl running back Phillip Lindsay, who appears to be settling in just fine as a radio co-host for 104.3 The Fan, put Broncos wide receivers on blast for no-showing against Chicago's bottom-six defense.

Lindsay's comments garnered the attention of Broncos all-time leading receiver Rod Smith, who agreed with the criticism.

Denver proceeded to erase the 21-point deficit and emerge victorious against Chicago, earning its first win of the season. After the game, Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy caught wind of the criticism, clapping back at Lindsay and responding to Smith's assessment.

Jeudy finished Week 4 as the team's leading receiver, hauling in three receptions for 52 yards. However, the former first-round pick continues to fall short of expectations for the Russell Wilson-led aerial attack in Denver. After averaging 91.6 YPG and totaling three touchdowns over the final five games of 2022, Jeudy has averaged 52.6 YPG in 2023, failing to find the end zone. Meanwhile, former undrafted free agent Brandon Johnson is tied for the team lead with three touchdown receptions this season.

Denver opted to pick up Jeudy's fifth-year option this past offseason, meaning he's not scheduled to hit free agency until March 2025. However, the 24-year-old pass-catcher has been entangled in trade chatter for much of the past two seasons. If he continues to put up middling production, look for a potential rebuilding Broncos team to shop the wideout for future draft capital.
