Jaguars' Josh Allen, Ross Matiscik Named to 2024 Pro Bowl
USA TODAY Sports

Two Jacksonville Jaguars have officially been named to the 2024 Pro Bowl Games: outside linebacker Josh Allen and long snapper Ross Matiscik.

This is Allen's second Pro Bowl after he was named a Pro Bowler in 2019. This is Matiscik's first Pro Bowl.

In Week 17, Allen broke the single-season franchise sack record (14.5) with his second quarter sack of QB Bryce Young. He came in needing 1.5 sacks to break the record held by Calais Campbell. Allen ended the game with 3.0 sacks increasing his season total to 16.5.

"Every year that was one of my goals to do. Last year, it was one of my main goals coming into that season," Allen said on Sunday.

"And unfortunately that didn't happen. So for me just to not lose faith, get back to what I do best, take care of my body each day and just be mentally ready to play. And this year has been the best so far. There's still room for me to improve, I believe. I haven't played my best ball, I don't think, like, I play obviously -- I don't know how many sacks I got but I got the record. But it's, like, looking back at this season there's still areas where I can improve to get better. So for me it's just to get back into the lab after we win the Super Bowl and just get better."

Allen joined NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor as the only players since 1982 to record at least 2.5 sacks in four games or more in a season. The fifth-year outside linebacker had at least 2.5 sacks in Weeks 1, 4, 13 and 17. He is currently third in the NFL in sacks through Week 17.

Through Week 17, Allen has recorded a career-high 93 pressures. His 93 pressures currently rank second in the NFL.

Allen has 14 consecutive games this season with at least three quarterback pressures, which is the second longest active streak in the NFL. Throughout 2023, Allen has recorded 16 tackles for loss. In five games this year he has recorded at least two tackles for loss, which is tied for the the fourth most in the NFL.

On the year, Allen has 16.5 sacks, 61 tackles, a career-high 16 tackles for loss, a career-high 31 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, and an interception.

As for Matiscik, the Jaguars' long-snapper leads all long-snappers in special teams tackles with eight, while also leading the Jaguars in special teams tackles. He also has one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
