Eight-year veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett signed a new contract with the New England Patriots. Journeyman quarterback Jacoby Brissett spent the majority of the 2023 season backing up second-year pro Sam Howell. Appearing in three games, the former third-round pick completed 18 of his 23 passing attempts for 224 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. He notably led a great near-comeback against the New York Jets and was supposed to start the final two games of the season, but then suffered an injury in practice.

Jacoby Brissett originally entered the league as a third-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Selected by the New England Patriots, the North Carolina State product was supposed to spent the season as the third-string option. However, thanks to Tom Brady’s suspension and a Jimmy Garoppolo injury, the rookie had to start two games for New England, including one with a broken thumb. While on the field, the quarterback completed 61.8% of his passes for 400 yards while adding another 83 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Following his rookie season, the Patriots traded Jacoby Brissett to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for wide receiver Phillip Dorsett. With Andrew Luck missing the entire season, Brissett was the primary starter in 2017. Making 15 starts, the quarterback completed 58.8% of his passes for 3,098 yards, 13 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

Luck returned in 2018 and Brissett went back to the bench. However, following his surprise retirement in 2019, Brissett took over once again. Completing 60.9% of his passes, the veteran finished the season with 2,942 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

After spending the next two seasons as a backup, Jacoby Brissett earned a chance to start on a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. Keeping the seat warm for Deshaun Watson, the veteran completed 64.0% of his passes for 2,608 yards, 12 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
