Harrison Butker does what only one Chiefs kicker has done before
William Purnell-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker joined some rare company during the first half of Week 7 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

After a 48-yard touchdown reception was called back early in the game, the Chiefs relied on Butker to put up the first points. His 35-yard field goal gave him 15 consecutive made field goals to start the 2023 NFL season. That's something that only one other player in franchise history has done before.

Pro Football Hall of Fame kicker Morten Andersen had 15 consecutive field goals made to start the 2002 NFL season in Kansas City. That was good for the longest streak of field goals made to start the season in franchise history. Butker has now tied that mark.

Butker also is now tied for the second-most field goals made in the first seven games of a season in franchise history.

The 2023 NFL season has been one of the best for Butker after an injury-riddled 2022 campaign. He's perfect on both field goals and extra points so far making 33-of-33 on all of his kicks to start the season.

If Butker kicks another field goal during this game, he'll have sole possession over the most consecutive field goals made in franchise history.
