Hall of Famer Jimmy Johnson: 'Bill Belichick is gonna be mad' at Micah Parsons take

Pro Hall of Fame head coach Jimmy Johnson thinks second-year star Micah Parsons is simply the best.

"I know my buddy Bill Belichick is gonna be mad at me, but [Parsons] may be the best player I've seen," said Johnson Thursday on KRLD-FM in Dallas. "Of course, Bill is gonna say Lawerence Taylor, but Micah Parsons amazes me."

Several sports commentators compare Parsons to the HOF linebacker. However, Johnson faced Taylor and Belichick, a former Giants defensive coordinator, twice a year in the late '80s and early '90s, legitimizing the take.

Yet, the 23-year-old has a long way to go before he can declare he's in Taylor's class. The former Giants linebacker won NFL Defensive Player of The Year three times, a league MVP and two Super Bowls.

While Parsons is young, he dominates like Taylor. In 2021, he became the first unanimous NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. According to Oddschecker, he's the overwhelming favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year.

Before Johnson became an animated Fox Sports personality, he built the '90s Cowboys dynasty. He won two Super Bowls with a treasure trove of HOFers, including Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin.

If Parsons keeps sabotaging opposing offenses, he'll show that Johnson's eye for talent remains uncanny.
