'Good Hire!' Manning Praises Eagles for Adding Kellen Moore
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

ORLANDO - The Philadelphia Eagles have already made some major changes at both coordinator spots this offseason, the latest being the hiring of former Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to fill the same role in Philly.

Fans will still have to wait awhile to see if the results of the Moore hire will be able to speak for itself, but in the meantime, why not ask Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning what he thinks about the move?

The legendary QB spoke to the media at the Pro Bowl on Sunday and gave the Eagles a rave review for the hiring of Moore.

"I like Kellen," Manning said. "Obviously, I’ve known Kellen since he was in college, and he came down to our football camp. We’ve stayed in touch, and look, I think he’s a good player-caller. You know, changes are a part of the offseason every single year, but I think Jalen will like playing for him, and I like Nick’s system, so I imagine there’s some sort of hybrid of what Nick wants to do and what Kellen wants to do and as long as you’re working together on that, then I think it’s gotta be focused around Jalen and what he likes and I think it’s a good hire for the Eagles."

Moore, who starred at quarterback for Boise State before carving out a playing career with the Detroit Lions and Cowboys, brings a quarterback-friendly mindset to Hurts and the offense.

Former Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson brought similar experience to the role and built a strong relationship with Hurts in the process. However, Moore has a better track record at this point in his career. If he's able to focus the scheme around Hurts like Manning said, then the Eagles could see some major improvement on that end.

Time will tell if Manning's assessment of Moore is correct, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a more significant stamp of approval in the NFL.
