Giants OL Justin Pugh goes viral for ‘straight off the couch’ Sunday Night Football intro
Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Sunday Night Football player introductions have become famous in football lore, with various players over the years providing memorable moments for thinking outside of the box when saying their name and which college they attended.

From players shouting out their high school or elementary school instead of their colleges, to Tony Gonzalez‘s nod to ‘Scarface’ and ‘Anchorman’, some players just can’t help adding their own personal touch to their SNF introductions.

The latest was New York Giants offensive lineman Justin Pugh, who signed with the team’s practice squad on October 3 and made his season debut Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Making it clear that he very recently joined the team after not playing football in quite some time in a hilarious intro can be seen below.

“Justin Pugh, straight off the couch,” Pugh said in his introduction.

Pugh hasn’t played a down of football since Week 6 of the 2022 season with the Arizona Cardinals when he suffered from a season-ending torn ACL injury. And according to Good Morning Football host Peter Schrager, just last week he was selling real estate and podcasting.

Pugh is an 11-year NFL veteran, spending the first five seasons of his career with the Giants after they selected him with the No. 19 overall pick in the first round of the 2013 draft out of Syracuse.

The 33-year-old then spent five seasons with the Cardinals before returning to New York this season, trying to help out an offensive line that’s in desperate need of better protection.

Only Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Howell has been sacked more times than Giants starter Daniel Jones, who was sacked 28 times in the first five games of the season before having to miss New York’s Sunday Night Football matchup against the Bills with a neck injury.
