New York Giants cornerback and 2019 first-round selection Deandre Baker, along with Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar, are wanted for their alleged roles in an armed robbery that occurred in Miramar, Florida.
On Thursday evening, TMZ Sports reported the two NFL players were partying at a cookout on May 13 when Baker presented a firearm following an argument. From there, the two players began robbing jewelry, cash, and other items.
Even worse, Baker reportedly told a third unnamed suspect to shoot somebody at the party. Luckily for everyone involved, that person didn't follow Baker's instructions.
TMZ added:
Law enforcement says the men made out with more than $7,000 in cash -- along with several valuable watches including an $18,000 Rolex watch, a $25,000 Hublot and a pricey Audemars Piguet timepiece.
Per TMZ and ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Giants said in a statement that they've been in contact with Baker, and won't be adding any further comments about the matter at this time.
TMZ noted conflicting stories regarding possible motives. One source said the players lost considerable amounts of money gambling, while some reportedly told police they believed it was a planned hit.
SNY's Ralph Vacchiano offered additional information:
The arrest warrant for Giants CB DeAndre Baker from @MiramarPD is for four counts of armed robbery and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. He's being accused of four robberies, apparently at two different parties last night ...
