Former Pro Bowl QB lands new job on high school sidelines

Recently retired quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has already landed a new job.

Bridgewater spent his final NFL season with the Detroit Lions, appearing in just one game, attempting no passes and taking only three snaps.

The 2015 Pro Bowler attended Miami Northwestern High School before suiting up for the University of Louisville for three years from 2011-13. Bridgewater was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 32nd overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and spent the first four seasons of his career with the NFC North club.

The 31-year-old also played for the New Orleans Saints (2018-19), Carolina Panthers (2020), Denver Broncos (2021) and Miami Dolphins (2022) before joining the Lions.

According to Andy Villamarzo of SBLive Sports, the Bulls' new hiring had been rumored for months.

"Bridgewater announced back in the fall that he would be retiring after the season, whenever it ended, and he planned to step into the shoes of the coaching world," Villamarzo wrote. "Many believed that would be down in South Florida, where he first established himself as a future NFL star."

"Teddy Two Gloves" officially announced his plans to retire in December, after Detroit's season concluded.

Per Villamarzo, Bridgewater has made his presence known at Miami Northwestern games in the past, "sometimes riding up on a bicycle, showing his support for South Florida high school athletes."

The high school sports writer added that the City of Miami Gardens honored the signal-caller by naming the football field at Bunche Park Teddy Bridgewater Field for "all of his accomplishments and giving back to the community."

During his time with the Dolphins, Bridgewater attended a Bulls game in September 2022 and was captured on video drawing up some plays. Bulls fans can expect to see plenty more of that this fall.
