Former Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald: 'I had a great run'

Future Hall of Fame wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald spent all 17 of his active NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals but didn't play this past campaign after saying in August he did not "have the urge" to return to the club or league. The 38-year-old with 11 Pro Bowl appearances on his resume still hasn't officially retired and spoke last week about the potential controversy involving the Cardinals and quarterback Kyler Murray, but that doesn't mean Fitzgerald is contemplating pursuing the Super Bowl ring that's eluded him for nearly two decades one last time.

"I had a great run. It was fun. I wouldn't change anything," Fitzgerald recently said about his career, per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN. "I wish I could have delivered more for the Valley in terms of winning a championship, but that's water under the bridge at this point."

Fitzgerald continued watching pro football throughout the 2021 season so he could comment on games during his weekly SiriusXM NFL Radio show with broadcaster and friend Jim Gray, and the all-time great admitted he sometimes felt an itch to catch a meaningful pass or two over the past six months.

"I mean, there's days that you watch the game and you see D-Hop [DeAndre Hopkins] make a great catch or you see [tight end Zach] Ertz do something special or you see [left tackle] D.J. [Humphries] pancake a guy or [linebacker] Chandler [Jones] get a sack or [safety] Budda [Baker] get a pick and you get really excited and you wish you could be there and participating with them," Fitzgerald explained.

According to Pro-Football-Reference, Fitzgerald sits second in career receiving yards (17,492) and receptions (1,432), and he's sixth all-time with 121 touchdown catches.
