The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released third-year offensive tackle Grant Hermanns on Monday. It didn't take very long for him to get another opportunity after being cut by the Buccaneers.

The New York Jets announced on Tuesday afternoon that they were claiming Hermanns off waivers. In a corresponding move, the team released offensive lineman Yodny Cajuste.

Interestingly enough, this isn't Hermanns's first stint with the Jets. He signed with the team as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue following the 2021 NFL Draft. Hermanns spent one season on the practice squad and entered the 2022 season in the same role. He bounced between the practice squad and active roster prior to being released in October.

Hermanns was picked up by the Miami Dolphins before being cut a couple of weeks later. He subsequently signed with Tampa Bay and went through the entire offseason and the beginning of training camp with the team prior to being cut this week.

New York only has three other offensive tackles under contract (Mekhi Becton, Billy Turner, Carter Warren) so it's very possible that Hermanns sticks with the team.

Tampa Bay isn't lacking depth along the offensive line with Tristan Wirfs, Luke Goedeke, Justin Skule, Michael Niese, Brandon Walton, and Luke Haggard under contract at tackle.
