Former Bills OL Says Buffalo Fired The 'Wrong Person'

"That the wrong person," Spain wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

As vague as Spain's remarks are, it doesn't take a detective to figure out who he believes the "right person" was. In case it wasn't obvious enough, Spain is almost certainly referring to Bills coach Sean McDermott.

Need more proof? Look no further than around the time of Spain's departure from Buffalo in October 2020, when he posted  an equally as cryptic message.

"Only if they knew the real reason but I'm going to leave it at that," Spain wrote.

Spain, 32, spent the first four seasons of his career with the Tennessee Titans before joining the Bills in 2019. He played well during his first season in Buffalo with only four penalties and no sacks allowed, prompting the Bills to sign him to a three-year extension during the 2020 offseason. That contract did not even come close to seeing its end, though, as the Bills released him in October of that same year.

After his release, Spain played for the Cincinnati Bengals until the end of the 2021 season, helping them reach Super Bowl 56.

Even three years later, it seems like Spain still has some qualms with McDermott and the Bills over his release.
