Falcons to meet with Jeff Okudah's potential replacement ahead of 2024 NFL Draft
Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Atlanta Falcons may end up turning to their secondary when they pick at No. 8 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

According to Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, the Falcons are hosting a top-30 visit with Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell this week.

Schultz also noted that Mitchell is overall ranked the 13th-best draft prospect in this year's class, which means he won't be available on Day 2.

After losing Jeff Okudah in free agency to the Houston Texans, the Falcons cornerback room could use someone like Mitchell alongside A.J. Terrell.

At 6-foot-0 and 195 pounds, Mitchell isn't too far off from Terrell who is an inch taller and weighs the same. They also have the same 31-inch arm length.

Mitchell finished his collegiate career at Toledo registering 123 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one sack, 45 passes defended, and six interceptions.

The Rockets product made a name for himself during the pre-draft process as he boosted his draft stock at the Senior Bowl and then raised it even further at the NFL Combine.

Mitchell ran a 4.33 40-yard dash, had a 38-inch vertical and bench-pressed 225 pounds 20 times in Indy.

He finished the combine as the second-best cornerback, behind only Clemson's Nate Wiggins.

Unfortunately behind Terrell, the Falcons don't have a strong outside cornerback to complement him.

If Mitchell is available, he could very well be the guy that bolsters Atlanta's secondary and helps them become true contenders in the NFC this year.
