Earl Thomas had millions stolen in alleged identity theft scheme by ex-wife's boyfriend

More than 5.8 million people experience identity fraud each year, according to Experian, and unfortunately for former Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas, he’s now one of them.

Per a report from NOLA.com, 38-year-old Kevin Thompson from New Orleans was arrested in June and is facing charges of bank fraud, computer fraud, credit card fraud, forgery, identity theft and money laundering after stealing nearly $2 million while pretending to be the former All-Pro safety. He was released on a $730,000 bond.

Thompson is dating Thomas’ ex-wife Nina, who is from New Orleans. The two went through an ugly and public divorce in 2020, and Nina was arrested in May of that year for allegedly pointing a loaded gun at Thomas’ head.

Thomas was later arrested in 2022 for violating a protective order that stated he was to have no contact with Nina except through a co-parenting phone application.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, Thompson used a driver’s license with his picture and Thomas’ personal information on it to open up a bogus bank account, which he used to funnel money from Thomas’ account.

The Sheriff’s Office states that Thompson siphoned more than $700,000 from Thomas’ account into his account at Jefferson Federal Credit Union.

In addition to the bank fraud, Thompson also cashed some of Thomas’ checks from the NFL, stole money from his retirement and transferred the titles of several of Thomas’ vehicles to his name, sold the cars and then kept the money from the sales.
