Eagles HC Nick Sirianni: QB Jalen Hurts had his 'best practice' as a pro Wednesday

The 2022 NFL season is a big one for Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts.

The third-year pro enters his second season as the Eagles' unquestioned starter under center, but the upcoming campaign is Hurts' chance to secure the job for good.

So far, Hurts has received glowing reviews from his head coach, Nick Sirianni

Sirianni is in his second season as the Eagles' head coach but believes Hurts' practice on Wednesday was the best he's seen from the 24-year-old.

The Eagles have spent the week in Miami Gardens, Florida, participating in joint practices with the Miami Dolphins.

"It seemed like everything slowed down for him and he was getting the ball out on time, and I thought he was at the top of his game yesterday and that's a great development for us," Sirianni told NBC Sports Philadelphia's Reuben Frank.

"I didn't think we ran it as efficiently as (we wanted to), but I thought we were sharp on offense as far as what we were doing. From our numbers, we were 85 percent completion percentage passing, which is pretty damn good."

Hurts seemingly has the backing of his head coach and his teammates. On Thursday, when asked if there were one player he'd pick to have a breakout year, wide-out DeVonta Smith quickly responded with Hurts' name.

Michael Irvin, Hall of Famer from the rival Dallas Cowboys, also believes in Hurts. Earlier this month, Irvin said with Hurts onboard, he could lead the Eagles to a "Philadelphia Dynasty."

In 2021, Hurts' first season as the starter, he led the Eagles to an 8-7 record in 15 starts, completing 61.3 percent of his passes while throwing for 3,144 yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
