Dolphins waive a veteran wide receiver on Thursday
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Dolphins bolstered its wide receiver room on Tuesday, activating River Cracraft off of injured reserve.  With seven wide receivers on the active roster, another domino had to fall off to accommodate the addition.

That happened on Thursday afternoon, as the team waived WR Robbie Chosen.

Chosen signed with the New York Jets after not getting drafted in 2016.  He had his best showing in New York in 2017, with 63 catches for 941 yards and 7 touchdowns.  His best career season came in 2020 with the Carolina Panthers, when he totaled 95 catches for 1096 yards and 3 touchdowns.

He came to the Dolphins this offseason on a one-year contract.  He failed to make Miami's initial 53-man roster in August but was signed to the practice squad.  He was called up to the active roster and appeared in four games for the Dolphins this season.  His highlight was his sole catch of the year - a 68-yard touchdown catch in Miami's 70-20 win over the Denver Broncos.

Chosen's release leaves the Dolphins with an open roster spot.  With RB De'Von Achane practicing and eligible to return from injured reserve this week, that likely was the move that accommodated his return.
