Desperate Packers considering bringing back Geronimo Allison

It hasn't been a great season in Green Bay. The Packers' 4-7 record is proof of that. But are things really going so badly for Aaron Rodgers, Matt LaFleur and company that they're considering bringing back Geronimo Allison?

The same Geronimo Allison who caught three passes in 2021 for the Detroit Lions, totaling an incredible zero yards?

The same guy who hasn't taken a single snap for any team this season? Yes, that's the one.

Things really are that bad in Green Bay.

It's worth noting that Allison does have experience with Rodgers. In fact, he played four seasons in Green Bay (2016-2019).

That's experience emerging star rookie Christian Watson can't claim at the moment. Allison would certainly have more chemistry with Rodgers than, let's say, Sammy Watkins, but that's a low hurdle to get over. Watkins has been running the wrong routes all season long.

Perhaps the Packers, not yet mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, want to give Rodgers one last shot to "run the table." Bringing back a player like Allison — who he knows and has some rapport with — is how they're going to do it. Keep in mind that in his four seasons for the Packers, his best output was 303 total yards and two touchdowns, though. Once again, it seems like Green Bay is thinking about doing the bare minimum for Rodgers as far as wide receivers are concerned.
