Amidst plenty of draft talk, the Denver Broncos made a smart, obvious move on Tuesday. Their roster for the next two years is better for it.
The Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Pro Bowl CB Patrick Surtain, according to Adam Schefter.

Surtain's fifth-year option amount is $19.8M fully guaranteed. That's a great price to pay for a top, young cornerback 2025.
There have been whispers about Denver shopping him in recent months, but nothing has ever risen to the top regarding the team shopping Surtain. It wouldn't really make any sense, either.
Even with a roster full of holes, you should not trade one of the best players at his position. Not to mention, he's still in his mid-20's. There should be zero rush to move on from him.
With the move, the Broncos lock in a top piece of their defense for at least two more seasons.
