New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton has found himself in the middle of trade rumors since at least April and ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline for final roster cuts, the chatter has only intensified. On Tuesday afternoon, when discussing the situation with Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post, the 2019 fifth-round draft pick had an entertaining take.
#Giants WR Darius Slayton to me on trade rumors: "If the Rams call them and they’re like, ‘Hey, we’ll give you Aaron Donald for Darius Slayton,’ I’d make that trade, too.’’

One would assume that Slayton was being facetious, as Donald not only agreed to a new deal with the Rams in the offseason, but is considered to be one of, if not the best player in the league. Still only 31 years old, the three-time AP Defensive Player of the Year is already thought to be the best defensive tackle in NFL history by some.
Slayton burst on the scene as a rookie, leading the team in receiving yards (740) and receiving touchdowns (eight) despite missing a pair of games. He played in all 16 contests in 2020 (starting 15 of them) and his 96 targets, 50 receptions and 751 receiving yards were all career-bests.
The Auburn product's receiving yardage and three scores through the air led the entire Giants team for the second year in a row. In 2021 however, Slayton finished with just 26 catches on 58 looks for 339 yards and two touchdowns.
