LAS VEGAS - Former Dallas Cowboys safety Darren Woodson entered Thursday having been named a Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist for the class of 2024 - his second straight year of achieving that honor.
But he’s not entering the Hall just yet.
Woodson spent his entire 12-year career with the Cowboys from 1992-2003, and during that time, he was selected to five Pro Bowls, four All-Pro teams and won three Super Bowls.
Woodson - who by the end of his career became the franchise’s all-time leading tackler - was inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor in November 2015.
The class of 2024 featured 15 finalists before it was narrowed down to this elite group. … and Woodson didn’t make it.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2024, which was announced at the NFL Honors here in Las Vegas, will be inducted into Canton this summer.
Two former Chicago Bears players are going in: Devin Hester, one of the greatest return men ever, and Steve McMichael, the former University of Texas defensive lineman.
A first-ballot winner is Julius Peppers of the Carolina Panthers, a defensive end who was a nine-time Pro Bowler.
Also in: Denver’s Randy Gradishar, Patrick Willis, Houston’s Andre Johnson, San Francisco’s Patrick Willis and the Colts’ Dwight Freeney.
