Cowboys Take Command Over Washington – Is Something Brewing in Dallas?

Add another W to the win column, as the Dallas Cowboys celebrate a 25-10 win over the Washington Commanders. The Cowboys now sit at 3-1, second place in the NFC East behind the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles.

It feels like a lifetime ago when Dak Prescott trotted off the field with an injury during the fourth quarter of opening day against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week one. There were so many questions about this team’s identity, personnel decisions, and how they could recover from the significant injuries that unfolded earlier in the year.

Well, those questions seem to have been answered as the Cowboys are on a roll to begin the season. The scary part? The Cowboys aren’t even at full strength yet.

Former Pittsburg Steelers WR James Washington is still out with an ankle injury that he suffered during training camp, and Dallas Cowboys starting QB Dak Prescott is also eyeing to return to the field sooner rather than later, which will give this Cowboys offense the spark that it needs.

Cooper Rush has done a remarkable job in Prescott’s absence and has done everything asked of him. However, this Cowboys offense ranks in the bottom half of the league regarding points scored and offensive production. Last year with Dak Prescott under center, the Dallas Cowboys were the #1 scoring offense in the entire NFL. That is the type of production you get with Prescott on the field.

Michael Gallup returned to the team after tearing his ACL earlier in the year and immediately made his presence known, scoring a touchdown in the back of the end zone in his first game back.

Although Cooper Rush has made Dallas Cowboys history by becoming the first quarterback to begin his career with a 4-0 record – Rush credits this Dallas defense as the reason this team is having so much success:

“They’re the reason we’re winning. It’s plain and simple.” Rush said, during his post-game press conference after his win against the Washington Commanders.

It is no secret that this Cowboys defense is a reckoning for opposing offenses. The Cowboys only allowed the Commanders one touchdown during Sunday’s game and have only surrendered four touchdowns in their first four games combined. As of right now, this Dallas defense ranks third in points allowed, seventh in total yards allowed, and sixth in passing yards allowed.

This is a recipe for a championship-winning defense.

The Cowboys will now shift their focus onto next week as they take on their biggest challenge of the season so far, with a game against the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Los Angeles Rams. It is unclear if starting QB Dak Prescott will be ready for the challenge, or if Rush Hour will be extended for another week.
