Cowboys rule out multiple players during 49ers game
USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys ruled out two of their special teams' aces during the third quarter of their Week 5 game versus the San Francisco 49ers. Following the opening drive of the second half, the Cowboys ruled out C.J. Goodwin and KaVontae Turpin.

Goodwin suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the game and even returned to the field in an attempt to play through it. He exited again shortly after that. As for Turpin, it was an ankle injury that ended his night.

At the time of this writing, Turpin's touchdown catch in the second quarter was the lone touchdown from the Cowboys as the offense mightily struggled to get things going in the first half.

In Turpin's case, sixth-round rookie Deuce Vaughn took over his duties as the returner. Goodwin was replaced by Noah Igbinoghene.

Speaking of injuries, nickel cornerback Jourdan Lewis suffered an apparent foot injury but returned to the field a couple of plays later.

The Cowboys trail the 49ers 28-10 at the time of publishing.
